Life and Career (Biography)

“It’s such a terrible time for us as artists and our industry as a whole; we are not considered essential work. What does that mean? When actually the work of connecting and sharing stories so that we build empathy and connection with each other seems like the most essential to me. What work can I do to ensure we are still standing? How can we still be here after all of this to provide this essential service to humanity, to give us that space to connect and see and understand people’s stories and experiences? We need this. The importance of our work and what we do is becoming ever more present every day that we are not in theatres and not together.” ~ Marjorie Chan at Studio 180 AT HOME session Dragon Ladies, China Dolls and Beyond: a panel discussion on transforming representations of the Asian Female, Wednesday, January 20, 2021 with Marjorie Chan, Jasmine Chen and Jean Yoon
