Megan Piercey Monafu

Megan Piercey Monafu is a playwright, director, actor and facilitator, passionate about the intersection of community building, social activism, and theatre.


In January 2014, Megan's verbatim play Grain of Salt was produced by 9th Hour Theatre Company, and then remixed and remounted by Abalone Productions at the 2014 Ottawa Fringe Festival. In 2012 Megan wrote and directed Mabel’s Last Performance at the Ottawa Fringe Festival, which received a Prix Rideau Award nomination for Outstanding Female Performance. Mabel’s Last Performance was then remounted at the Atlantic Fringe Festival 2014, receiving the festival award for Best Female Performance. Megan is currently working on a commission piece for the Tamir Foundation, a one-act play based on the struggles and triumphs of a group of people with developmental disabilities.

After completing her BFA in Theatre and Development at Concordia University, Megan directed Crime and Punishment with 9thHour Theatre Company, PowerPlay with Just Kiddin’ Theatre, and assistant directed Antony and Cleopatra with a Company of Fools. Megan has facilitated drama workshops and classes at schools and community organizations in Ottawa and Montreal, and is currently creating and running a drama program at Ottawa Salus for adults with mental health issues.
