Biography

Alguire is an Associate Member of the Playwrights Guild of Canada.

"Katie is a Toronto-based screenwriter and playwright. Originally from the small town of Winfield, British Columbia, Katie moved to Toronto to study theatre and screenwriting at York University. Katie self-produced her first full length play The Keeper's Secret at the 2009 Toronto Fringe Festival. She was also a playwright-in-residence with Tarragon's 2010 Paprika Festival, where she developed Evacuate, a one act play, which she directed in the 2013 Toronto Fringe Festival. Jason’s Dad marked Katie’s first produced screenplay, for which she was recognized with York University's 2010 President's Prize in Creative Writing. Katie is currently a mentee in residence with the Canadian Senior Artists Resource Network, where she is developing Thailand, a feature film. She has also worked in the film industry as a production assistant on several features and television series."
