Da Vinci's Kitchen Dramatick Theatre Productions Companie
Da Vinci's Kitchen Dramatick Theatre Productions Companie (sic) or "DVK Theatre" is a theatre company founded in Victoria, BC, now based internationally. Founded in 2011 by then-UVic Theatre students John Demmery Green and Graham Roebuck, its mission is to "display seminally important balderdash to the publick and advance the principles of Electivism" through intriguing and relevant productions of lost classics and original work.
Electivism is a 21st century theatre movement expounded by Green, the company's current artistic director. Broadly speaking, it seeks to engage current and disaffected audiences with the world's glorious literary heritage in order to create new and innovative forms of Drama.
DVK has presented plays and readings in several venues around Victoria:
- Hubris in Athens (2014) by John Demmery Green - staged reading in collaboration with Fair Vote Canada at the Merlin's Sun Theatre.
- All-Star Theatrical Ambuscado (Nov 2013) - series of one-act plays and other short works by Green, produced by Julian Cervello and Scrumpy Theatre at the Victoria Event Centre.
- The Occupied Mind of Mr. K (Feb and Aug 2013) - by John Demmery Green: first workshopped as part of Intrepid Theatre's YOU Show series, it went on to a successful run in the 2013 Victoria Fringe Festival at the Metro Studio Theatre.
- Awkward Hangouts of History (Aug-Sept 2012) - by Graham Roebuck and John Demmery Green: a double-bill of two plays, "The Authors of Patience" (Roebuck), and "The Flying Corporals" (Green), which ran as DVK's debut production in the 2012 Victoria Fringe at the Fairfield Hall.
